Can someone please direct me to a step by step process for overclocking my processor. I have never attempted to OC and I would like to follow exact directions to overclock my Intel i7 930 2.8GHz.

From the research I've done, this should be the only adjustment I will need to make to have my computer dominate. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

^^Good question.

Do you want to overclock just to say you did it or to reach some arbitrary 3DMark score? Keep in mind that at best, overclocking will likely void any warranties you have from Dell or anyone else, and at worst, you can fry your entire system. I'm of the opinion that to do it right, you need to take the time and do the research to learn the theory behind what you are tweaking.

However, since you asked, here's a step-by-step guide: http://www.wikihow.com/Overclock-a-PC
Also, here's a site I used quite a bit when I used to tinker around with it: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/

Why do you need your computer to dominate? Does it not play the games you want at the settings you want?

Your system is fairly boss, man. Why would you need more?

Well my thought was that I would get a lower level processor and then overclock it. I would like to get over at least 3 GHz. I think with my system it could easy reach the numbers I want without overheating. I will test out a few games to see though. Thanks for the comments.
