My 10yr old central air lost freon over the last month. Called AC Contractors and before even checking the system the tech was recommending a replacement "based on age". F that. Recommend a contractor who will work to fix the existing system instead of draining my wallet. TIA.

Is Ben Maines in the 'view? That's who comes by my place in Kilgro. Reasonable, replaced a contactor that the ants got to last year.

ETA: They could have well told me the 10+ (17 I think, not original owner) year old unit was no good and I wouldn't have known any different. That was my reason for recommending.

My pops worked retail management and told me years ago that his A/C man for the stores told him never listen to anyone saying replace and that 90% of the time it can be fixed for substantially less than a replacement.
