Girlfriend's car doesn't have a working heater.

I'm looking at getting something to keep her warm. I've seen heated blankets and seat cushions that plug into the 12v.

Any idea which ones work better than others? Which suck or those that don't?

Looking on Amazon seems to have a bunch of different ones, all under $20.

Is she smart enough to remember to turn it off when she leaves the car?

some aren't.

Probably so.

Though I figured the power to it is turned off when the car is off; that's how my truck is.

Fix the heater or heated seat. I can't imagine driving around with a blanket around me, possibly falling on the floor, getting caught in the seat or worse, under the pedals.

I agree... It's a long story, but basically her dad wants to fix it, but he's been about to fix it for a while now. I'll create another thread about how to fix it.

For now, I'm looking for something temporary. She's up in Dallas, and it's not too warm up there.

No offense, but that's a pretty sucky dad. If I knew my child would be driving around when it is 20 effing degrees in the morning here in DFW, then he needs to go fix it. I mean, GD!

Sorry, I have nothing of significance to add other than I was in DC over the weekend and visited the American History Museum. In the transportation wing they had a little exhibit about kids traveling to school which said that the smart ones would put a brick in the fireplace overnight and wrap it in newspaper the next morning to sit on on the bus.

I do not recommend this for your GF.

Just fix the heater. It'll take the same amount of time as figuring out what you want to buy her and go find it in a store, wrap it up, give it to her, then see the look on her face that says she thought it was something exciting but this d-bag got me a blanket so he doesn't have to fix my car, which quickly turns into a fake smile. Dad doesn't have any real reason to be mad. You're taking care of his daughter where he has failed miserably.

Go to the auto parts store after work, I'm assuming it's a bad heater coil which is likely to be in stock and inexpensive. Make sure and get some extra coolant while you're at it. Replace said heater coil while she makes you a steak.

Nope, I have not.

She lives in Dallas, I'm in CS.

I may have to go up there this weekend (versus the plan of her coming here), as she called me this evening to let me know the Jeep died on her way home after work.

Either way, I'll be working on it this weekend.

Nope, I topped that off last weekend.

She said it was running but spedo and tach failed, so while on the phone with her father, at a red light, he instructed her to turn it off and back on. She did, but it wouldn't start. It would turn over, but thats about all she could tell me.

Starter is ~2 weeks old, battery was just checked at the last time. She said the check engine light came on about 2-3 days ago.
