They host nearly EVERY High School championship. I have NEVER heard an Ag gripe about that.
This. It's been this way for decades. Comparing 7 on 7 with this is total bs. Typical whorn attitude, we can have something but nobody else can. Televising hs games is an entirely different matter anyway. Yet another example of why whorns is spelled with a w.

I do agree somewhat with you that Dodds has calculated our reaction and had to know we would not stand for tu's continual pushing the limits and creating instability in the conference.

Really? I think he's caught by surprise. We're NOT reacting the way we always have. We're not rolling over and accepting their line of castrated bullcrap.

When the SWC broke up, we did what they wanted and joined the Big 12. While we didn't go along with the PAC-16, we did what they wanted and stayed in the weakened Big 12-2. We've tended to act like the codependent abused spouse, just taking it, and believing the sips when they say everything will be different in the future.

I think Dodds was totally unprepared for the possibility that our administration would grow a spine. Heck, it's surprised the crap outta me and probably most of the people on TexAgs. Why shouldn't it surprise the sip leadership, who have more first hand personal knowledge of the people running A&M than most of us?

I think the sips are stunned, in over their heads, and flailing about.

If at first you don't SECede, try, try again.

They may very well be stunned, but it would not surprise me if they had a contingency ready anyways....hate the f***ers or not, they are good at what they do...

Why the eff would Notre Dame, who plays a quarter of a Big 10 schedule already, and has had numerous invites from the Big 10 and *still* turns them down, ever join the Big 9?

I don't think Dodds lies. I do firmly believe that he chooses his words carefully enough so as to give himself an "out" should more information become available in the future, or should he choose to disclose more info at a later point.

Really?
quote:
If the network does broadcast high school games, Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said Texas will insist that it not be involved in selecting games and that all references the Longhorns and their famous logo be removed.

"We do not want to use it as a recruiting advantage. We don't want it tied to Texas," Dodds said. "ESPN knows we don't want to violate any NCAA rules and they don't want to."

Dodds said he realizes some Big 12 rivals might be upset if their game against Texas was put on the network and their fans were asked to buy it. Dodds has proposed letting the Big 12 have a say in which game be moved to the network and allowing that school to keep its regular allotment of games on ESPN or Fox, the league's network partners.

Dodds also said Texas would pay those schools to have the game on the network, but did not say how much.

Bringing the conference into the scheduling would put a more neutral party into the decision-making.

"The conference will be a part of how we do these things," Dodds said.

Let's not forget the communication by proxy through Chip Brown.

The problem with Dodds and the sips in general is that the conference is a partnership. Dodds and the sips are untrustworthy and unreliable partners. We can compete with them and may even find it necessary to work with them, but we can never trust them or turn our backs on them.

Dodds didn't calculate sh*t. He thought everyone would fall in line. Problem is, A & M has different plans and has told the sips to go f*** themselves, this time. Dodds is so arrogant that he thinks he has everything covered. He honestly believes he can get any deal done. The sip arrogance will be their own undoing.

They are getting caught with their pants down because A & M is moving faster than anyone, including Aggie alumni/fans everywhere, would have ever dreamed after last summer.

Props to the Ags for finally being proactive and making the horns reactive for once. If any sips thinks this current scenario is actually playing out the way Dodds wants, they are in serious denial.

If deloss wants to bring up 7 on 7, then it is time to discuss the state basketball tournament, state track meet, and the UIL itself. Nothing like the teasip wanting us to be the little brother....

Yes Dodds is all knowing. That's why his plans last year did not work out.

Of course he does not want the big 12 to stop now because they control the league.

It will be interesting to see what happens if we do go to the SEC.

Dodds complaining about the 7 on 7 tournament while secretly pulling strings behind the scenes of much of this drama is like democrats crying about Foxnews while every other network kisses their @#Â¥ and takes their marching orders daily.

It's like The state of Texas crying over the fact that Rhode Island has too much land and influence.

Seriously Old Man Idiocy.

Dodds is an idiot if he thinks the XII will survive. As soon as we make it official, I bet Sieve goes to Norman one last time to have a "come to Jesus" meeting with OU. If OU insists on OSU being a package, then off to Blacksburg he goes.

MU will get down on their knees to the B1G. I bet this time they get added as well.

Seriously, who is Dodds fooling? After everyone is gone, Dodds and Bebe won't even be able to get UTSA to join the XII.

So ND would give up independence and their historical games they've had for generations with Michigan, Michigan St., Purdue, Stnaford, Navy, and USC to join with the sips? All while turning down a geographically logical partner in the Big-10 ... a conference in which three of their rivals already exist ..... uh .... no.

I could see a partnership with Texas .... and partnership of indepedents in which Texas, ND, BYU, and maybe the severvice academies work with each other ... schedule games between each other ... but not any type of new conference.

Rest assured, the rest of the college athletics world is watching what's happening in the Big 12 and what tu and the lhn are doing to it.

I guarantee programs are going to be leery about getting into bed with tu after this.

Larry Scott may still want them for the PAC, but as soon as he broaches that with the other conference members they will scream that the only way the horns come in is with no private network and as equal partners. Same thing for the Big 10. And that would have to give ND pause as well.

tu has two options at this point, independence or having to rein in their legendary greed and arrogance.

Wanna bet which one they choose?
