Mostly agree but the feel around the green isn't quite there.

I used to play whatever balls I found and never played could notice the difference between any of them (or I wasn't good enough to notice). I bought a small bag of Pro-V1/Pro-V1X reloads a year ago and played with them for a long while and my game improved. I lost the last one this past weekend and played with a Top-Flite a friend was playing with. WOW the difference was night and day. I couldn't get ball to stick on the green to save my life.

Definitely going to get another bag of Pro-V1/Pro-V1X's before I hit the course again.

The taylor made lethals feel awful as well, looking at that chart it seems I need to try to srixon z-star xv, but it it doesnt feel good then its not worth it. Pro-v's feel great, however their durability is lacking.

So you are saying those charts are completely made up data? They specifically say the other bridgestone balls spin more than the e5, especially on the wedge one

You mean they claim that the more expensive balls are better? Shocking.

Marketing is marketing. I'm just offering up my experience with different types/price golf balls. And for my money and my game (5 handicap) the e5 is the ball I prefer to play. If someone were to offer me a free box of balls, I'd choose e5s.

My advice is to try them. If you don't like em, don't hit em.

Robot Testing (Iron Byron) =/= Marketing

If iron Byron were the one hitting my shots for me, then perhaps I'd choose a different ball.

But the last time I checked, iron Byron doesn't hit flops, bump and runs, 3/4 shots, 1/2 shots, open-faced chips off fluffy lies, hooded 4 irons, sand shots, or any of a multitude of shots I hit in any given round.

Those results are really pretty sterile. An actual round of golf is dynamic, as is my golf swing.

Went by lost golf balls yesterday. Awesome! Got 25 Z Star XV white and 25 yellow for $70 after taxes.

I've been playing Pro V's for a handful of years now and can honestly say the 2013 model has made great strides in durability. I have played 10-12 rounds with the new ball and cannot remember one scuffing at all during play.

^ yes, the 2013 is much improved.

How much difference does the ball actually make? I normally shoot mid to high 90s so I just play will balls I find or that I get for free.

IMO the difference in golf balls are only noticeable by golfers that know how to work the ball (draw, fade, backspin, etc). When I was a high 90's low 100's golfer I couldn't tell the difference in a Pro-V1 or a Top-Flite because my shot wasn't consistent enough to know if I was working the ball or if I just got lucky and hit a draw etc.

Much more to a ball than just spinning it in the grins. Some balls spin heavily off a driver, some are longer off the tee, some of "softer" on the irons etc

Redsox, the balls make a rather large difference. However, it's only a good idea to play pricey balls if you only lose a couple per round. If you lose half a dozen balls per round, it doesn't make a lot of sense to play expensive balls, unless of course money isn't an issue for you.

Not sure how I missed this thread but for the past few years (until last year) I played the ProVX. Last year I switched to the B330s and really liked it. The wife gave me some regular proV's for my birthday and it is a better ball than I remember it being when I switched from it to the ProVX (2009-ish)....that being said, I've wanted to try to zstar, but have enough b330s and proV's to last at least through this season.

Why do you guys like the zstar specifically?

I get less spin off the tee with z star xv and a much more durable ball IMO

I'm a b330rxs guy. Love the b330s the most. Pro v1x is a great ball as well- but only get them when I batch order a bunch of number 82s.

Economy ball for me is the e6.

Haven't tried srixon and currently don't feel the need to change.

Where did you grab a box from? V2s have been discontinued for a while now. Did you get the new Gamers from Dick's or Golf Galaxy?

I'm still learning and lose about 4 balls per round. At that rate, I currently like the Callaway Warbird pack of 50 from Lostgolfballs.com's eBay page. I get 50 mint balls for $31.99 shipped.

Bridgestone makes an excellent series of balls.
Have played most of them and all perform well.
I like the Titleist NXT and ProV's as well.

I've been playing the Bridgestone E5. Very, very good ball at a great price. Just picked a mixed bag of bridgestones from lostgolfballs. Most of them are E6 so i will be gaming those for awhile.

Fwiw, I'm very disappointed in my first purchase from lostgolfballs. Half the balls were no where near the the AAAAA rating and they have not responded to any of my inquiries.
