We are doing a 3 day, 3 night, 4 round (hopefully) golf trip in Myrtle after the USCe game at the end of August. Anyone have any good recommendations for resorts, packages, etc.?

So far we are looking at:
*The Four Barefoot courses (Fazio, Dye, Love, Norman), or
*Two fish club courses (Caledonia & True Blue) and the Heritage Club.

Any thoughts on either of those plans?

TIA

Although I don't plan on as extensive of a trip, I do plan on playing at least 2 courses while I am there. Have been doing research and noted a few things...will get back to this thread later with some of what I've gathered.

Problem is, the group I'm going with to SCar are not really golfers. I am thinking of spending an extra night or 2 after the weekend on a mini self-vacation.

My advice: pick an area of the beach, and stick there. The distance from north to south is over an hour. Glen Dornoch and heritage Glen in the north are very nice and are sister courses. The big cats courses in the far north are very, very nice and there are five of them. Caledonia is the best course in South Carolina. True blue is nice as well, The barefoot courses are nice, but not very memorable.

Cap, that's sorta what we are thinking by trying to stick with one of these packages.

Played all those courses and love them, especially true blue. But gotta say I love the barefoot courses. Id go barefoot.

Heritage is decent but probably the worst of the 7

Then stay south if you are able to pay for Caledonia. It's special, but best right now when the azaleas are in bloom. It won't be as pretty in August. The other downside to the Barefoot courses is that you're stuck across the intercostal.

Wow I completely misread this thread yesterday. I've been looking Hilton Head area, not Myrtle Beach. My bad.

cb - We had a trip out there 2 years ago. I ended up liking Dunes Golf And Beach Club (it's a RTJ course) the most. The Barefoot Fazio Course was really nice as well.

There was a big rain the day before we play the Barefoot Dye Course and water was standing, so it kind of hurt the experience for me; however, my Dad played it last year and said it was the best one they played. Just depends on the conditions I guess.

We used golfzoo as our trip advisers, and it worked out pretty well.
