So I'm sure that this course is still a ****hole, but is it worth it for $20 w/ cart? Haven't played it in forever and the weekend I'm in town w/ some buddies (next weekend) the campus course is booked with a tourney

play Briarcrest instead. It will be more expensive but the course is always in better shape and has a better layout. They are only 10 minutes apart, if that.

Avoid Muni at all cost. Briarcrest is worth the extra 10-20 bucks to avoid all of the hackers and incredibly slow play you have to deal with at muni... plus the course is in 50x better shape than muni is as well.

Played briarcrest over the weekend and it was in pretty crappy condition. The tee boxes were so un level it was ridiculous just trying to find a good spot to tee off. I would just fork up the money and play the campus course instead.

I like the Briarcrest layout a lot...that's a shame.

Wish we could play the campus course but it's taken all next Saturday for a tourney. Leaves us Muni or Briarcrest, both sound like bad options

May just take the cheaper one if that's the case, who knows

I really enjoy Briarcrest but the tee boxes are not great. I think the rest of course is in very good condition. It is a tough course if you can't find the fairway.

Played Briarcrest just last week and really enjoyed it.

Why not Pecan Lakes in Navasota? Still there?...

Pecan now is Bryan muni's rival. I wouldn't go to either unless you don't really care to make a putt outside of four feet. Briarcrest is the better bang for the buck. Layout is good but challenging if you're not accustomed to it. Greens are typically in very good condition. If you can't play campus play Briarcrest. Once my back is better that's where I will continue to play most of my rounds until grass is in at the campus course.

Pecan lakes has really gone downhill the last few years. Was never really a fun course to begin with and last few times I've been out there the conditions were pretty bad

Okay...somebody go open bluebonnet back up.

I wonder if Bluebonnet looks like the abandoned/zombie-infested golf course in The Walking Dead?

Take a road trip or just go play Briarcrest with all this rain lately I bet it will be looking better this weekend.

played Pecan Lakes this morning. Will not be going back. The remark about pecan lakes and bryan muni being rivals is accurate. The greens at pecan lakes were some of the worst I have ever seen. Some holes there were actual mud patches on the green..others a bunch of Bermuda clumps surrounded by dried up mud. Impossible to put on, It was horrible. Pecan Lakes should not be charging over $20 per round, this morning cost $45. Not many people out there either.

Headed down Friday to play with my 2 boys...

No A&M course, BriarCrest, no Bryan Muni, what other options are there? Is Pebble Creek? private?

None. The rest are private. Why not briarcrest or the A&M one?

Travel to high meadow ranch or I'd even suggest grand lakes(went last summer). Both about 45min - hr away.

High meadow ranch is over $80 on the weekend. Not worth it IMO
Ravens nest in Huntsville is another good option

I don't know about Friday, but Saturday there are tourneys on all 3 courses (A&M, Briarcrest and Muni)

Y'all think BCS needs another public course? Seems that all there is are private courses out there other than these few.
gougler08

Normally I don't think they would need a 4th public course, but then again, I didn't really think all 3 would be booked with tournaments on the same day either so maybe there is demand for a 4th

There is not a need for a 4th, they just either need to sink a lot of money into Muni or completely build a new one. There are really only 2 playable public courses in BCS. If Pecan Lakes was in good shape they could really benefit from the BCS market, but I think the word is out on them. Not many people are going to travel 30 minutes and pay $40 to play a chitty golf course.
