The TPC Woodlands isn't as easy to follow tournament play as it is at the older courses, say Champions or Colonial, but it's decent. Not nearly as difficult as the course at the Valero in San Antonio. The TPC is stretched out enough where you really can't flip horizontally over to other holes, you instead have to walk progressively to them for the most part.
When I went to the SHO back in the day, the best place to watch (for us) was the #14 tee. You could watch approach shots and putting on #13, then the players would walk right next to you to #14. You could then watch them hit their tee shots on 14 (par 3) and watch them putt out. The way they roped off the course left a triangle on the 14th tee, we would get in the tip of the triangle and none of our view was blocked by the crowd.
Since there probably won't be big crowds, it may not matter where you stake out your spot. 17 is always a fun hole to watch, too. And the practice range setup is...or used to be...good for up close observation compared to other tournaments I've been to.
