Heard this on mike and mike this morning. If you were in a foursome at Augusta with jack arnie and Gary and it was the only time you'd ever get to play Augusta and with those three, would you take $1million for your spot? How much would it take to give up your spot?

On a semi related note, who the hell let Lou Holtz become a member there?

A million dollars? I'd give it up without the slightest hesitation. Maybe a million dollars is a lot more to me than it is to them, but that amount of money is so big that it doesn't even make me stop and think about it.

$10k?! Really? Arnie, Jack and Gary at Augusta?! Get the hell off this board. I wouldn't give up a shot to play Augusta for $10k WITHOUT those guys. I'd really have to think about the million. Two mil would probably be too much to pass up. Somewhere between one and two I'm torn.

I'd take the mill, but no fooking way would I take $10k. That's crazy talk. Augusta with 13 green jackets. I might have to play in a diaper because I'd keep pissing myself with excitement.

Alright. Maybe more like $50K. But I'm dead serious. I love to play golf, and sure that's a sh** ton of golf history and prestige in that hypothetical scenario, but that's a lot of money I can spend on things that are more important to me. Golf isn't my #1 hobby.

I'd give up my spot for any amount at or above my student loan debt. As much as I would love to play with those three, solving my student loans a few years ahead of schedule would be more than enough for me to give it up.

I think I agree with nomad. I wouldn't think twice about the million. But it'd have to be north of 50k to solve student debt and maybe a little car loan and/or mortgage.

Holtz became a member when he was the head coach at South Carolina. One benefit of being head coach at USC and UGA is life time membership at Augusta National.

Do you know how Augusta makes their money? Is it pretty much all from CBS? Seems like I heard some obscene number once about how much CBS pays them.

I think it's almost all CBS money. Also, I imagine that if they need to make any improvements or changes that are beyond their normal budget they can fundraise pretty damn quick when you consider the high rollers that are members.

I just don't find the fascination playing with these golf greats. To me, it'll be like playing with my friends. I'm not in awe of them. And I can live without ever playing Augusta National. I love playing golf but I'm not a golf-crazed fanatic.
