My wife is going to give me some lessons for Fathers day. I've just done some quick searching and I've seen Briarcrest, TAMU course, and Aggieland golf academy offer packages. Anyone have any experience with these or others in the area? I was a single digit handicap in high school but shoot mid to high 80s now. I'm looking to do three lessons. Thanks.

I am in with Rick at ATM. Lessons have been longer than paid for. He works with what I bring to the table. Not trying to make me do something I'm not.

I've been thinking about setting some lessons up with Rick as well. $75 an hour is steep. Any recommendations on number of lessons?

IMO, Chad at Pebble is the best teacher in bcs. I worked in the golf industry for years, so I'm pretty familiar with what it takes to be a good golf "teacher"....chad does a great job.

fightin16 that is a tough question but I'd never recommend getting just one lesson and expecting much. Maybe just some slight adjustment. I'm planning on doing a package of 3, maybe five and spread them out like once a month.

Just curious has anyone got lessons at the driving range on HWY 30 Aggieland golf academy? It's right by my house.

Does anyone know what Chad charges? I'm not a member of Pebble Creek. I guess I'll give him a call first based on the recommendations. Thanks.

klock: I bought a month membership at aggieland golf academy ( the one you mentioned in your previous post). It is an okay driving range. The practice balls are good quality, but the hitting surface is mowed with a plain push mower, so you don't quite get that tight lie you would at a golf course driving range.

I've been to the range. I guess I should have been more specific. How is the pro there and the lessons?

Every time I go there it is a high school kid working. Last two times I got off work late and they normally want to leave so I drive down the road to the other range in Bryan.

I went to Chad a while a couple of months ago and he was very knowledgeable. I'll probably go to him again before long. I went by the pro shop and had some trouble getting a hold of him at first. Seems pretty busy so be patient.

Chad costs $80 for hour lesson for non-members. Great instructor.

Eric is good instructor too. Price is lower.

They are different types of teaching. You'll probably like one style and not the other. Try one lesson with both of them, then take a few more lessons with guy you prefer.

My backswing was a mess.

Eric would show me a drill to correct the problem. I'd hit the ball maybe 10 times in his drill. Once I had that working, I'd go back to normal swing. Then maybe another drill to reinforce that or on to the next step.

Chad had me to stop at top of swing. Then he would move me around like a mannequin to right position. Do that several times.

Both guys are good, just different ways to get there.
