i also like the way it looks so that makes two people FYI I have done golf course maintenance. So its just a matter of likes and dislikes you have that at every course you play.
Played the other day while they were trimming it down. On 1 they had probably 5 balls they pulled out of a green side bunker. You like hitting your ball just off the green and losing it?
The campus course would be my choice. I prefer it over Traditions but I'm just a casual hacker these days. All the greens a PC have to be blown up and redone for them to ever be good again.
Since I gave some less than stellar news about Pebble Creek earlier in this thread, I need to update. Played it a few days ago and it was in good shape. Fairways are nice and the greens are in good condition. The rough is very thick, haven't seen that much grass on this course ever.
They still have some room to improve but as of now, well done PC.
Campus course is my recommendation. With the special going on for $45 for unlimited golf/ect. Is a great deal. Plus the greens are getting better and better each day. Tee boxes just recently got punched but that needed to happen.
Played the campus course on thursday and it was in pretty good shape. I have one dislike however. Like others have said, the tall grass around the bunkers is ridiculous. I lost three balls off the tee in that stuff when they should have been no problem at all. But I still love the course overall.
Tall grass like that is not ok for casual golf and the campus course is designed to be for casual golf, not championship golf. There was some at Merion last year and I think at Murfield Village. But for the most part it is all but gone from competitive golf in the US.
My view is that if you have to grow it long so you can half-ass the bunker maintenance, then you never should have put a bunker there in the first place. Put in the bunkers you can afford to maintain and ditch the rest. Find other ways to make the course challenging.
They've started cutting some of them. I don't know if they're cutting all of them or why, but today some were cut pretty short. Greens were pretty quick today.
