Good for Gallacher. I enjoy watching him play.

I get tired of hearing how incredible IJP is in Match Play.

Would love to see Fowler mow him down again head-to-head.

But he is. And I'm not sure if anyone is mowing him down anytime soon.

I hate the Euros as much as the next American but I do enjoy watching him play match play.

Someone remind me how it works for setting the matches? As the visitors we have to post our order and then they get to post their order to respond, right?

I thought they alternated, meaning US would show a team, Euro's match. I didn't think they would post all 4 teams for a match then Euro counter.

I think for the presidents cup they do the alternating picks... but I think with the ryder cup, both teams submit their 4 teams (and the order they will play) blindly... and then the matchups are revealed

A 14 seed Fowler sent his *ss packing at the Accenture Match Play event earlier this year.

Euro Match Play darling got mowed down by an American young gun from a 14 seed.

The bottom line is that he's beatable.

He definitely is beatable... but the Ryder cup is a whole different level of insanity that brings out the IJP monster than what is present at the Accenture Match Play

Americans need to make putts. That's what it really comes down to and what Poulter seems to be better at than most in this format. In regular tour events, I don't think anyone considers him an outstanding putter but he makes everything in the Ryder Cup.

Bradley, Simpson, and Mahan are the 3 picks by Tom Watson.

Mahan and Simpson? Just seems like he took the easy way out and went with the experienced guys.

Those are the right picks in my opinion. Who did you want Kirk? That was his first top 10 in any major/players/wgc/playoff event ever in yesterday's tourney. Mahan is a great match play player. Webb has a major and played well in the last Ryder Cup.

Those stats don't tell you enough. When was the win? How are they playing lately? How big were the tourneys? Etc, etc...

Those stats are all this year.

Player A - Brendon Todd
Player B - Hunter Mahan

Not saying Todd should've been the pick but there are better options than Hunter.

Bill Haas - Made 13 of 16 cuts this year and lately has been playing some really good golf witha T-2 at theWyndham Championship, a T-15 atThe Barclaysand a T-8 at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Only drawback to Haas is he doesn't have Ryder Cup experience.

Ryan Palmer - Consistent all year with 4 Top 10s, 6 Top 5s. Had nice showings at the major with a T-5 at the PGA.

Brandt Snedeker- Rough start to the year but seemed like he was heating up with a nice Top 10 at the US Open. Think his recent string of missed cuts here at the end of the year hurt him.

I'm more on the side of picking guys who have shown solid play over a good stretch of time rather than a guy who, IIRC, has been working his way back from injury and wins a playoff. I think too much stock is put into these playoffs and Ryder Cup experience. My pick would have been Haas.

I just can't wait to watch. Ryder Cup always makes for some exciting golf.

Would have liked Palmer over Simpson myself. If there already weren't 3 rookies on the team i think he had a real chance. He hits it long, can make birdies in bunches, and is a good player in the wind.

Hopefully the three picks play with a chip on their shoulder and come out fired-up. The Mahan pick doesn't bother me too much; he's shown good form of late, is a great driver, and putts well. He also makes birdies in bunches.

As I posted above this will come down to putting IMO. These guys all hit the ball well and can stick it close to the pin; it's whoever makes those 15-25' putts more will be the winner.

We are going to get killed. I could see fowler sweeping since he is such a boss and our best player. But those picks just scream mediocrity. Can't wait til mahan is put in a clutch situation and shanks one.

Mahan is in just as good current form as Haas if not better. Mahan with a 1st, 7th and 15th last 3 before the letdown after his win at the Barclays. Mahan is a much better match player than Haas with a second and third the last 2 years at the match play.

So why were the picks made before the end of the FedEx Cup/Playoffs? Just a rule that's in place? Horschel, Kirk, and Palmer are all playing great right now. I understand the risk in taking 3 more rookies with 3 already on the team but it's not like experience has paid off for Americans on the past. I still don't mind the Keegan pick or even the Mahan as much since he won the Barclays but Simpson is very debatable. I'd have taken any of the 3 I listed over him.

Well yeah after the last 2 weeks the Mahan and Simpson picks look terribke. Too bad these picks weren't made after the FedEx cup bc Horschel and Palmer definitely look like they are in a groove now.

Take a look at the 2006 US squad if you want to see a sht team. This team isn't awful. The Euros are top-heavy for sure but to think we're just going to get steamrolled is wrong IMO.
