Hit an 87 tonight on 17 holes. Had to skip a par 4 because we had a drunk foursome and a slow twosome in front of us. Even if I am conservative and give myself a double bogey on the hole for a 93, it is still the best round of my life. I know that's not how golf works but **** it.

Maybe I should always play post-work, with a 16 ball warm up, about two dozen putts, and crack open a coors light immediately after the 1st tee shot (even though it went right down the middle), while continuing to down coors light all round.

What a game. My lesson/range session Tuesday was the worst in MONTHS. I don't know how 2 days changes so much. And the score wasn't a fluke...I didn't have a **** ton of luck. Just regular golf.

It took me a handful of rounds, but I am finally used to playing that grinded down wedge you gave me. It saved me a few strokes yesterday around the green. My short game had left me for a couple weeks because I spent my time worrying about the full swing ****, but I am getting my touch back at the moment. Thanks again for the club, jj.

Side note PSA: I was playing Pecan Hollow. The roll on those greens fit my eye much better last night.

You could definitely tell that they recently sanded it. Balls weren't skating as much and a cloud of sand popped up whenever I hit the greens.

Course was in good, not great, shape. A few of the greens have some dead spots. But I take those with a grain of salt... Only had to putt over one dead spot the entire round as the few greens that had them mainly had them towards the perimeter.

FWIW GHIN says if you skip a hole, take your handicap. You sound like a 22 or 24, so based in the handicap of the hole you skipped, you know either bogie or double.

Nice round by the way. I was with a buddy the first time he broke 100 and each on of the landmarks is just flat cool to hit.

Yea I am playing to like a 24-25 right now. Thanks for the information. The skipped par 4 was the 2 hcp out there, so I am comfortable carding a double for myself on that.

Shot 93 yesterday and missed two easy birdie butts. Still my best score ever, probably should have been even lower. This after my sunroof flew off on the freeway on the way to the course.

Shot an 87 out at Keeton Park on Saturday. 1 birdie and 5 pars. Granted we shot from the whites, which is par 69 and about 5800 yards long. I've kinda been telling myself not to get too excited since it was from the whites, but I still feel fantastic about breaking 90 for the first time! 45-42. And managed to shoot better on the back 9 as I drank 3 beers than on the sober front 9!

I could be going against popular opinion around here, but it sounds to me like you're playing from the correct tees. Great job on the round!

That was going to be my next question.

My brother always wants to play from the blues and then gets frustrated when the round doesn't quite turn out the way he wants it to. Then again, negative thoughts can mess up your game whatever tees you are playing from. But I have other friends, people who grew up golfing and have some real game, who still play the whites because it makes them happier with their scoring.

So what does Golf think? Play from the whites until you feel good about it and move back? Or start with blues and just work at it until you are good from there? Or mix it up?

I have had a debate with myself on this subject.

I played star ranch at 832 (you can play all day if you want there) and tee'd off on number 10- shot a 52 (lost 5 tee shots off the tee OB) then played 1-9 and shot a 44. Went in had lunch and replayed 10-18 and shot a 44. So those consective 18 i would have shot my best round an 88*.

Now my thinking is my score is a 96 since it was my first 18 (which is 6 worse than my best score). I dont get to count the 88 since i was my 3rd set of 9. Gotta count your first 18 right? If i counted the 88 it would be my best score. I just cant do it though want it to be a true 18. What do yall say?

The course is still a par 72 from the whites. That's a legit 87, and you are playing from the right tees.

Yesterday, I was -1 stepping on the 6th tee. The yahoo I was paired with said something like, "If I'd have known you were good, I wouldn't have agreed to play with you."

I thought, "hell, I never asked to be paired up." But instead said, "Yeah, when I put it in the fairway, I'm alright." I then proceeded to shank a 3 iron off the tee into the next fairway and made double. I think I hit one legit fairway the rest of the day including two holes in which I went 'Tin Cup' and refused to leave the box until I put the ball on the short grass...counted all of my penalty strokes, and finished with a really, really pissed off 87 as the storms rolled in. I probably had 6 penalty stokes on two holes from the box...chili-dipped a half wedge into the drink on #9, and lipped out a par put on #15 after scrambling from a fairway bunker. A 78 looks a lot better than 87.

Jack hole playing partner was a hacker who was way too damn friendly for having never met before yesterday. Should have kept his cursed mouth shut and enjoyed the company.

I hate this game.

I shot the best round of my life yesterday with a 73 at the Campus course. My 4 iron broke about a week ago, the club head of my 5 iron broke off before the round and my 6 iron broke during the round. Luckily, I never really needed them but now I have to buy some new irons.
