Hey guys,
I'm hoping someone can think of something I'm missing. I'm a former high school golfer who keeps it in the low 80's and 70's but for whatever reason the last two weeks have been awful. Last two weeks I've lost all ability to get through the ball. I cut or flat out push everything. I've gone through all the countless lessons I've taken and nothing seems to work. And the worst part is I'm not getting any power out of it. I've lost a ton of distance and it's just flat out frustrating. It's just about taken 70s out of the question. I've checked my alignment (feet and shoulders)and made sure I'm not cutting across it. For whatever reason I just continue to do it. Sounds like it should be an easy fix to get through the ball and finish my swing but I cant figure out. Any advice will be appreciated and I'll laugh at any jokes. All I'm left with is maybe I should sell my clubs.

May be overly sliding or bumping during the swing.

Either on the backswing, through swing, or both of them.

I go through this every once in a while and I'm a mid-80s golfer.

I always stop trying to fix the problem and go back to the basics. Go to the range and just hit a bucket of wedges trying to make solid contact and regain tempo.

After that hit a few balls with a 7 iron with both feet as close together as possible. This helps me swing under control and gives the feel of solid contact. Spread your feet out a half-step out and hit a few solid shots. Repeat until your at full swing mode making consistent contact.

You'll get through it. Selling those clubs is something you'll regret as soon as you do it.

OP...I was in your shoes roughly a year ago.

I'll tell you what my Pro told me when I couldn't hit a PW 70 yards, let alone straight.

Put your clubs away for at least 2 weeks. Don't watch golf...Don't even think about golf.

Then when you decide you can't sit on the sidelines anymore, go to the range with a 7 iron and nothing else.

Your swing will eventually come back to you. You are going through the exact same thing I did.

If it's only been a problem for two weeks my advice is to simply give it some time.

Even the best players in the world lose their swings for a few weeks here and there -- they just shoot 75's instead of 65's for a few weeks.

The pros hire psychologists to help them through slumps because it means significant lost earnings when they slump.

Bob Rotella (renowned sports psychologist) always tells his clients with the yips to lay in bed envisioning making 6 foot putts until they fall asleep.

So for you, just envision hitting perfect shots -- from setup through the swing.

On a different note, Hank Haney's advice would be to go out in your back yard every night with a pitching wedge and make 100 fundamentally sound swings without a ball.

Great suggestions but what you are experiencing is what I call "the pitchout".You are just not transfering your weight enough to the left side.Try a very slight pause at the top of your backswing {very slight} and when you pause begin clearing your hips and driving through the ball to the left side. The power will increase and the clubhead should be square again at impact.

towel under right armpit and keep it there through multiple swings.

and I agree with weight transfer... but that seems like a weird thing to lose suddenly.
