Ugh....59. 58 would have been lowest score ever in a Tour sanctioned event.
Recap on 18, hits tee shot right into trees but has good lie and wide open path to the front of the green. Leaves second shot short and in front of the green, leaving an easy to very easy 40 ft. uphill chip. Chooses putter instead of wedge, blows it by the hole 8 feet, misses downhill putt for par.
It's clear the fringe influenced the speed with the putter on his 3rd shot which made him blow it by. I think you should choose the club you're most comfortable with, but no doubt a wedge takes the uncertainty of the fringe out of the equation.
