Kevin Sutherland is -13 thru 16 on the par 71 course. As I was typing this, he hit his tee shot on the par 3 17th to about 2 feet.

Birdies 17, needs par on 18 to shoot 58, then flares his tee shot right in the trees...ugh. Not sure if he has a decent chance to salvage par, but probably does.

Looks like a good lie and has an opening.

Oh boy....he's worried about the wire between the trees in the path of his shot...don't think toomuch, man.

Ugh....59. 58 would have been lowest score ever in a Tour sanctioned event.

Recap on 18, hits tee shot right into trees but has good lie and wide open path to the front of the green. Leaves second shot short and in front of the green, leaving an easy to very easy 40 ft. uphill chip. Chooses putter instead of wedge, blows it by the hole 8 feet, misses downhill putt for par.

It's clear the fringe influenced the speed with the putter on his 3rd shot which made him blow it by. I think you should choose the club you're most comfortable with, but no doubt a wedge takes the uncertainty of the fringe out of the equation.

Math doesn't add up...

I must admit that after he missed the putt for 58, I was kinda hoping for the 3jack from 8 feet for 60.

Now the golf gods will strike me down with severe punishment in my round tomorrow.

Watched it happen between rounds at the clubhouse. Bet my buddy $20 he would miss the 6 ft par putt. Easy money. That dude's brain had to be mush on the inside right then. I also bet him he would out it in the woods off tee at 18 but he wouldn't take bet. 59 is still pretty sweet.
