Fiancé and I are thinking about joining either at Hills of Lakeway or Lost Creek. Anyone have experience with either course or club corps in general?

My dad, class of 75 is a member at Lost Creek and I've played the course. It's a fun shot makers course. The hills is a superior course in my opinion but the huge downside is they don't have a driving range. They have a practice area with matts and nets. Clubcorp is awesome in my opinion.

The hills has a huge driving range. Flint rock doesn't. You hardly have to hit off mats at the hills. Usually all grass and there are no nets. My dad is a member there and that's where I play quite a bit.

They also have a great academy of golf. With 3 practice holes. And flint rock is there as well.

Please Excuse the typos on the mobile.

Personally I didn't enjoy Lost Creek at all. I have not played the Hills but have heard good things. Are you set on ClubCorp? If not River Place is totally redoing their greens/bunkers and just remodeled the club house. It is a bargain to join

Apparently I played Flint Rock which doesn't have the driving range. I loved the course.

DrRalph,

Not set on ClubCorp just figured the benefits of other clubs would be nice. I am 33 and fiance is 28 so many clubs that don't have Young Exec type memberships are out of our price range. Will def check out River Place though thanks for the heads up.

have played both courses at the Hills many times, I love the difference in the two and are always in great shape. Always my pick when I am in ATX, even when staying at Barton Creek I drive to the Hills.

The Hills is a fantastic course. Very mature trees, not long, challenging but fair. Classic setting.

Nice locker room, separate men's room/bar, and good food. One of my favorites in town.

Forgot to mention Flintrock... People like it, but I'm a sucker for shade, and flintlock is newer. Not a huge fan, but still has its place.

I have a Hills membership I will sell you for a discount if interested. They are at 42k now. I can't do it if you have already talked to Lynn/heather over there though. I've been a member at Spanish oaks the last couple years and just didn't use the hills membership anymore. Great courses though.

I wish I could buy it off you but Lakeway just too far out. Really liked Lost Creek and wish I had the cash for Spanish Oaks. Just weighing options now...might just go with joining a public course.

Girlfriends family just bought a house out at Spanish Oaks. Can't wait to try out the course! Everyone was very friendly when we went out there last week.

Iv'e played Spanish Oaks a few times since iv'e moved to Austin and it's incredible. Definitely over the top service but it's a treat to get to play. Always in great condition and definitely a shot makers course!

http://www.clubcorp.com/Society/Society-of-Lone-Star-Clubs

This is the austin society club, which can include golf privileges. All the courses you mentioned are members. I dont know all the ins and outs of the membership, but might be worth checking out.
