Saw on Twitter that he hurt his wrist, and that's why Stein pinch ran for him in the first place.

From Batt News -

"Stein replaced Mitchell Nau early in game one (Alabama) due to some problems with his wrist.

“His wrist is bothering him,” Childress said. “He was catching and kind of tweaked it again. X-Rays are negative, he [should] be fine.”

Stein played his best baseball of the season vs. Vanderbilt

If Nau is hurt, who is our backup catcher? Lankford? Nottebrok?

we may find out Wednesday night. Stein is going to need rest before catching all 3 games vs. Kentucky

Mengden used to be a pretty good catcher

My guess would be Lankford, since we've already showed that we're willing to play him in LF. We'll see if Nau is healthy, though.

Gideon is the 3rd catcher. Perhaps, he should get a try vs our Wednesday opponent. Not sure if he has ever caught before in a game. Mengden could also go if needed.

And Lankford came here as a catcher. Didn't he have trouble with baserunners stealing too often?

Mengden came as a catcher, but got pulled into the closer role when Jester was in eligible due to grade issues his first year here

He also hit a 3-run HR against Ok State when we were down before coming in to protect the 1-run lead that he earned.

Hope that Nau's injury will allow him to return soon. It has been a while.

"Grade issues".. I think that's sort of similar to "violation of team rules".. Doesn't necessarily mean what you think it does.

HaHa, I guess the quote from the admissions office in RC's announcement was just part of an overall coverup of the "real issue" huh? I truly did not know that.

It was another case of not being informed until the first day of classes that he was not eligible - as has happened several times before to athletes in numerous men's sports here.
