Was watching the Braves and Phillies last night. Turned out to be a great game btw. Anyway, during one of Gattis' at bats, they were telling the story of his road to the bigs. I was pretty crazy and then just as the announcer said, "He even turned down a scholarship at Texas A&M." he turned on a pitch and hit it about a mile and a half. Turns out he was teammates with Kershaw at one point. Imagine if they had both made it to campus.

Had the pleasure I guess you could say of playing against Kershaw in high school my jr year. We played them at the Frisco Roughriders stadium, and there weren't too many seats left. As he was warming up, there were about 30 radar guns at the bullpen watching him. Quite a site to see! Needless to say, we all knew he was going to be great. He beat us 8-5 in the one series to see who got to Austin. On top of hitting 97 on the gun, he hit a 450 foot homerun to dead center, too!

His story is an interesting one...had some drinking problems and lived out west before returning to baseball I believe.

I see what you did there...

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
