Key Quotes from John Byington

"After the first game loss against Texas we were upset. They owned us for so long and it continued that first night."

"Coach Johnson challenged us the next day and told us not to lay down and let it happen again and it set the tone for the day."

"The momentum in the final game had already started from Terry's hit. With the bases loaded, I was looking for a sac fly and it flew out."

"After the first game win we had a little sense of relief, but the work wasn't done. It was a long break between games in the doubleheader."

"I coach at McMurry University and have been here for 16 years. My daughter will be an incoming freshman at A&M this fall."

"It was rough to lose the lead in the ninth inning of game two. However, we had last at-bat and got guys on base to come through."

"It was a let go of emotion to finish the job and run the bases at the end of the final game."

Key Quotes from Terry Taylor

"In the first game, I came up against a lefty and got a base hit up the middle. I was able to set the table for John's homer."

"It was tough to contain our emotions after the first game, but somehow we got our act together before the second one."

"I'm living in Houston with my two kids. I've been in the equipment business here for about 20 years."

"It was rewarding to say the least to take the '89 Texas series. We felt like we did our job and were extremely excited."

I was there in the front row upper deck over the first base dugout. Still my greatest sports-related memory from A&M. Glad to hear John and Terry are doing well.

One of my favorite interviews since we started the show three years ago. I have a lot of favorites but this is at the top of the list.

I was there, one of the many out on the tracks looking over the right field wall.

Game 1-first row over right dugout
Game2- on tracks with cocky t sip friends from high school
Game 3- back on row 1 over dugout. t sip buddies wigged out after blowing 14-9 9th inning lead and hauled ass

I was at a sports bar in Austin watching the game with a fellow Ag who had started law school at tu wondering if his allegiances had shifted any. Your typical arrogant sips were present and starting taunting us after the game shifted their way. The ending was so sweet. I had to restrain law school friend from fighting one of the sips in the parking lot afterwards no longer doubting which side he was on.

I was a sophomore at Bryan High, and attended with my late father.

Went to high school with Byington ( a year behind me) and Andy Duke and Mike Easley. All Baytown boys. This was, by far, my favorite sports memory. I too, was out on the tracks in right field for the series. I think we may have been enjoying a few adult beverages.
