I generally encourage the fans to have patience and reasonable expectations. Now we need patience to make it through an offseason. As for reasonable expectations, I would say 31-25, 11-19 is a reachable goal.

It'll be something to watch over the coming weeks, but I think the smart money is on Mengden signing a pro contract.

There was some small talk at the regional this weekend that he may be injured.

If he is injured, and it plays into his draft slot, or his season performance drops him down, I could see him sticking it out another year in hopes of improving his value. Three months ago, he was projected to be a 3rd round pick which would indicate a $600,000 signing bonus. That bonus drops significantly over the next few rounds: 4th: $430,000 5th: $300,000 6th: $230,000 and 7th: $170,000.

If he truly has been battling an injury, it would be highly likely that he could improve to his 2013 form instead of indicating a regression.

Mlb.com updated their Top 100 list as of this week, and Mengden has fallen out of the Top 100.

He's currently at spot 101 which puts him as a late 3rd rounder with a potential slot value of $519,200.
