@GabeBock: Hearing from a very good source that the Aggie baseball team has landed a transfer from TCU INF/OF Boomer White...All-Big 12 player in '13.

@GabeBock: Should say that Boomer White was an All-Big 12 player in '14. All-freshman team in '13 as well. Hit .315 with 49 RBI and 12 steals in '14.

I'm hearing now from multiple sources that it's a done deal. This is a huge get for the Aggies. I have a writeup on Premium about it right now.

He comes from an A&M family, and his brother is coming to A&M as well.

an interesting surprise. Is his brother a freshman for 2015 or 2016?

Also hearing we promised him 2B, his natural position. Froggies had him playing in the OF.

He does not come from an A&M family, although he brother is enrolling as a freshman in the fall. He does have a lot of friends at A&M and was unhappy at TCU by all accounts.

If true, the 2b angle is interesting. He played C growing up, moved to OF in high school when he was behind an older player who went on to also play in college, and then moved back to C his senior season. Was expected to compete at C at TCU but had back issues. I don't know if he has a shot at C at A&M and really, he lacks the arm to play there anymore, but he is not built like a prototypical OF. He can play LF or DH in college, but if he wants to play beyond, he needs to do so as a 2b. Based on what I know of him, he's never played there, however.

Based on size and position, he likely wasn't going to be a high draft pick next year, so maybe the best thing for him was to transfer, sit a year while working on 2b game, and then see how that works out for Sr. season. If 2b works, he's improved his draft stock; if it doesn't, he still plays LF or DH for A&M and is happier than he was at TCU.

Regardless, tireless worker and great, great hitter.

Huge get for the good guys. Watched him for 2 yrs at tcu and he's as competitive as they get. The tcu fans absolutely loved him and during the regionals when he came to bat one side of stadium would yell boomer and the other side would yell white. Encourage Ags to tweet him and welcome him to aggieland. Welcome boomer and get ready for the SEC and the greatest atmosphere & fan base in the state.

This is awesome. He was MVP of the Fort Worth regional. Huge get! And a guy who just flat out wants to be an Aggie. He will be a fan favorite here!

Interview with Boomer in today's startlegram. Good interview. Cited personal reasons for the transfer. Very gracious to TCU, which is the right way to be. Looking forward to seeing Boomer in the maroon and white. Nice to have some CWS experience on the team. Hopefully, everyone on the team will have some by the time that ncaa rules allow Boomer to play.

gotta give some credit to TCU's coaching staff for not being jerks about the transfer. I suspect some other coaching staffs in the state would have been.

will he have 1 or 2 years or eligiblity at A&M?

Another startlegram article today.

Boomer's grandparents are Ags and he spent a lot of time at A&M when he was younger.

Even while enrolled at TCU, he spent a lot of time at A&M.

TCU coach tried to talk him out of transferring, but to no avail.

Maybe the question we should be asking is why our coach didn't/couldn't recruit this NCAA Regional MVP with serious Ag connections to A&M in the first place.

Welcome to A&M to Boomer. Look forward to seeing you play at Blue Bell.

I am pretty sure White committed to TCU before his junior year. That was during the time TCU was getting a lot of the big recruits. It took him a few years to realize he needed a change.
