It took me four last night.
12+35=47
1*9*2=18
100-8=92
100-98=2

Holy crap I didn't notice that the = sign was in the wrong place until after the third try. Freaking embarrassing, lol!

In my defense, the wife and I had a few drinks before I did the nerdle.

I got today's in two.

Hopefully you weren't a liberal arts major, or I'll really feel embarrassed.

That was a really good one. I got it in 4. I'm normalizing to the mean now.

Took four tries... Wasn't expecting the equation to go negative at the beginning... Haven't seen that yet

By complete absolute luck, I got today's in 2 tries.

We tried to call a truce, but he was being irrational.

He was using circular logic, huh?

I just lost. I never lose.
12+35=47
100-93=7
18-8-3=7
16-6-3=7
13-3-3=7
17-7-3=7
After the third guess I knew what it was and had three more guesses to pick out of the 4 remaining possible combinations. I guessed wrong all three times. I may go become a Buddhist monk in a remote part of the world or something now.

I've only been playing Nerdle for 9 days (streak intact, like it better than Wordle now), but 4 tries is clearly my sweet spot.
My distribution so far:

Guesses-frequency:
3-1
4-6
5-1
6-1

Also, my 9-year old plays this and Wordle. He always gets them, and sometimes before me. Globle, too.

Hmmm, the next version will have to add exponents, integrals, derivatives, summation and product notations...

Stupid upsidedownness

1+2*3=07
90/5-9=9 <- this
60/5-8=4
60/5-6=6

Close to getting it in two tries the last three days. Would have gotten it in 2 today if I had gone with my instinct.

They've been really leaning on multiples of the same number the last few days (three of the same number).

I thought they were going to move the equal sign to the left side for some reason.

588/6=98
6=60/5-6
60/5-6=6

Nice second move. I use the same opening, then for this one I used 98-60=38 to get more numbers.

I like that. I might start doing a second standard play if my opening doesn't hit well, instead of chasing the numbers I do hit on.

A second move with 6, 8,9, 0 AND moves the equal sign to the left or right would be even better if we know it's not in the 6th position. Any ideas?
