This one is really, really, really weird.

Like, to the point where there's no doubt in my mind that half the people here would absolutely hate it.

It's also really, really, really raunchy.

Like, to the point where Emma Stone goes fully nude a shocking amount of times.

And yet... it's still charming, funny, incredibly unique, and pretty damn good overall. At the very least, Stone will absolutely be nominated for Best Actress (and might even win), Mark Ruffalo will be nominated for Best Supporting Actor (he's hilarious in this), and the movie itself is a lock for Best Picture.

So if you're into this sort of thing, awards contenders, etc, it's definitely worth your time. But for those on the fence? Don't say I didn't warn you...

Are you asking if I'm into really weird movies with Emma Stone fully nude?

Amazing acting as said above, but I want to go to a movie to be simply entertained : excitement, thrill, suspense.

This was an artful commentary on how society has preconceived notions of the expectation of women. I feel like I'm being inundated with this stuff nonstop since 2020.

I loved it. Yorgos Lanthimos movies are definitely not for a lot of people - but they just work for me. I'm not sure I'd put it over The Favourite - but the sheer creativity and look/design of it was amazing. I sat through the entire credits taking in the still frame images which were almost like an art gallery.

Emma Stone is outstanding and I am surprised she agreed to some of the sex scenes. She came close to the cardinal rule of never going full re-tard, but was able to toe the line expertly. As everyone knows, if you can pull that off, then you are guaranteed an Oscar nomination... Not sure if she'll win but I'm sure she'll be way up there.

Also, this movie had the best dance scene since The Favourite. Incredible.

Saw it with the wife today. I knew it was going to be a weird one, but even I was surprised at the amount of... Furious jumping.

Great to hear.

For me, the more time I've had away from it, the more I like it.

Ha, and the r-tard thing is so true. It's such a fine line, they walk it perfectly, and then really pull it off in the final act.

I liked the lobster and Killing of a sacred deer as well...wonder if I would like this one.

however I am not a big emma stone fan.

Knowing it's the guy who did the lobster likely makes it a pass for me. I kept waiting for that movie it really say something in all its weirdness but it never really did, it was just two hours of weird. This looks similar.

lol, it cracks me up how people have to say things like this here.
The themes were clear 15 minutes in, it could have been a film short and had the same impact because nothing really advanced after that beyond the basic idea, it just went through multiple iterations.
But to each their own.

I will say though I stuck with it because even when I'm not fully into a movie, I respect something that tries to be out of the box. Just isn't for me.

I absolutely HATED this movie, but at least stuck it out.

I've never been in a showing where so many people walked out at various different points and never came back.

I am glad someone caught that phrasing..ha.

I actually really like Bennie Safdie and Nathan Fielders stuff so I did watch 3 episodes of the Curse, I don't have HBO Max so I didn't see the rest.

It was about 30 minutes too long, but I enjoyed that quite a bit. Ruffalo was hilarious.

Also I totally expected God's brain to go into ex-husband's body. I assume they purposely intended that fake out.

What's people's problem with Ruffalo? Never seen this sentiment anywhere else.

Ruffalo is an outspoken liberal. One click on SuhrThang's posting history and it's mostly "POL" all the way down. So that probably answers that.
