I am certain there have been times in our history where the sitting president was more of a figurehead than a leader. But just going back to the 80's there is no question that Reagan was in fact running this country. Same for Bush after him. Same for Clinton. Same for W although I am certain Cheney was highly influential and was given a lot of autonomy.

Obama? I was never really certain Barry was actually calling the shots. Trump? He certainly though he was and certainly tried, but he literally had to fight his own govt every step of the way. Biden? Not a chance, he's not running a damn thing. There is very little respect for the office these days or the individual the voters supposedly put there. That's not a good thing.
