I still like how they effectively couldn't release it in theaters because they were afraid too much of the crowd would be watching…and it would slowly dawn on them which group they would be part of in the movie were it a reflection of today.
I don't think they needed to worry, as those who it makes fun of would largely be too dumb to make that association and people also assume they are smarter than they are relative to the rest of the population.

This movie was far beyond its time. Hard to imagine that came out 18 years ago with little fanfare. Kind of like Office Soace in the late 90's. Trivia: Same director. Also the same director as Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill. Mike Judge gets it. He's the Rockwell of our generation.
