There is absolutely no reason to allow money coming into American Universities from countries that want to destroy us. How is this even allowed now?

I had a conversation with a professor from the University of Texas (not doing the child thing with tu) I've gotten to know pretty well casually while smoking cigars. Good guy and good discussions.

He was stunned how anyone could have such low regard for professors and higher education at large.

We discussed foreign funding, DEI, extreme left woke agenda, abandoning science and its reputation for political correctness, indoctrination of young adults etc…

He was floored like he had never heard about it. Academia lives in a bubble and echo chamber.

They take the money because they don't see an issue with their agenda and policies.

They really do live in bubbles. We all can so easily select and filter our information sources and peers and contacts. We have the wealth and resources to create both physical and virtual homogeneous communities for ourselves, and we self segregate because it is comforting to do so. For many, this self segregated state becomes reality, and any outside intrusion into it if "foreign" ideas is regarded as a discomforting attack. The interesting thing is that the left now does this more than Conservatives do, whereas the conservatives were once more focused on boundaries and borders. It represents a shift on the left from enlightenment liberalism to ideological critical theories and a more Maoist ideology over time. The change has been gradual but steady and I don't think many of those immersed in it rally notice it.
