Who has sent a kid here, or knows much about it? My son got an offer in the mail this week for full tuition, fees, housing, meals, and books, as well as a $6,000/year stipend. According to the letter, last year's class had 150 National Merit Scholars, presumably all getting the same deal. With an undergraduate enrollment of under 2,700 students, that would mean that well over 20% of the kids are getting a free ride plus a stipend.

The only other schools I know offering anything similar are huge SEC-type schools such as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, both Mississippi schools, etc. Tulsa is a really small school, though. Is there a single massive donor to this school who is trying to bring in National Merit Scholars? There can't be an expansive donor base there, as you might find in an Ivy or near-Ivy. Are there huge corporate sponsors funding this offer? Last but not least, what kind of kids are paying full ride to go there?

I would be interested in knowing what anyone who had a child attending the university thought of it, etc.
Avoid the rush. Start hating Socialism now.

I don't have a kid there, but I can tell you it has a decent academic reputation. Probably the best school in Oklahoma (purely based on academics), but that's not saying much. Students are not that conservative but supposedly not crazy woke either.

I know two students that went there. They both really liked the school.

It has a very pretty campus. Looks very Ivy League. Strong Petroleum Engineering Department.

Lot of oil money donors.

Good school. Petroleum and Law are specialties. As mentioned above, best academic school in OK. I enjoyed my brief time in Tulsa, but it does have an odd slowness to it. Just a general lack of energy in the city. Maybe because it was crazy busy and rich at one time and now has just kind of fallen off.
