I seem to be surrounded by Czechs as well when I married one from Dewitt county.

I also am 1/4 but my kids will be more.

Just wanted to ask though, has anyone heard of boots? It might have been mentioned earlier but it is the butting of heads. Just seeing if anyone else has heard of this before?

Not sure about the meaning of "badda boots" right before bumping of the heads, but my buddy's mom did it to all her grandkids.

To keep this going.....I was trying to remember the word for sleep....does spinka sound right?
Curak73
7:37a, 1/28/09
Spinkat = "to sleep"

Spim rano = "I sleep in the morning"

Dobrou noc = "Good night"

Dobre spinkat = like "good night", but more equivalent of "Sweet dreams" (no one really says "good sleeping"

At least how I remember it. There may be a grandmother out there who can correct me.

That was the worst rendition of Apples Peaches Pumkin Pie I have ever heard... that was my favorite polka as a kid though. I can still sing a few songs in czech.

Still have never heard of the boots thing... can someone explain? I guess I am going to have ask my mom or grandma on that one.

Want to learn a few czech phrases...here's a weekly language lesson. Keep in mind that this is modern Czech. I spoke some of the phrases I learned to a couple of the locals here in Central Texas and they looked at me like I had nine heads.
