My Eastern Hognose passed away, so I'm going to get one of these to replace him.

Tricolored South American Hognose. Really cool snakes.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Nice little cotton mouth on the road in the Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge this am. Didn't even move when I drove past and then backed up to take a picture.

These are honestly the snake I have the most difficulty identifying, but I believe the single white scale in front of the eye IDs it as a western ribbon snake rather than a garter.

Actually I backed up past him, then got out and walked up so I could get a better pic from the side. Other than raising his head, he never moved.

I feel like this could also be said as, see the one on top that looks like he wants to be your friend and kindly pass through your yard? Then see the one on the bottom that looks like he wants to beat you up and take your wallet?

Why did I read "anacondas in the Frio" to the tune of "What I Like About Texas" by Gary P. Nunn?
