If you're headed up to CO and plan on hiking Hanging Lake, please make sure to check to see when they are closing the trail for renovations. They're still using the reservation system, but will also be closing the trail at certain points throughout the entire summer to reconstruct the path that was destroyed by the fire a couple years ago.
So, not only will you need a reservation, but you'll also need to check to make sure the path isn't closed on your reservation day because even with a reservation, on certain days a majority or the trail will be impassable and you won't be able to get to the actual top.
It'd be a real ****ter to travel to CO and hike a mile straight up the path only to be told you can't get to the actual lake.
