Looking for some good Cajun/southern food spots in the quarter or not too far away. Nothing too fancy. I know Coop's Place used to be recommended by the Tine board, and it used to be phenomenal, but last time we went a few yrs back, it wasn't the same…I believe they were bought out or changed management.

Definitely have Cochon/Butcher on the list. We have a few higher end places circled but are mostly looking for hole in the wall or can't miss places in the $20-50/meal range.

Drago's has great chargrilled oysters for an app/snack. I remember them being great but don't remember exactly how much they were. Definitely recommend

Tableau is a Dickie Brennan's but when we go to the quarter we typically go grab a table outside to people watch near Jackson Square.

Why exactly is this posted on the Houston board?

This is in Lafayette right? Will be driving so might be able to make that work for lunch.

I hear you, but where else would I post it and expect to get as beneficial feedback? We've had numerous nola food threads over the decades on here. Several posters are from nola vicinity and many more frequent, or used to frequent, the city.

Yes. Sorry. Brain fart.

I was thinking K Paul's but just checked and they're closed.

Mother's Restaurant located at 401 Poydras St, New Orleans, LA. Best soul food in Nola. Not sure if they take credit cards or not. Last time I was there it was cash only.

Lived there 20 years ago so my advice is admittedly dated. However, when I go back, I try and grab dinner at Cochon, lunch (po-boy) at Domilise's, and breakfast at Camellia Grill.

Edit-and a happy hour cocktail on the patio at The Columns.

If I am on death row and eating a last meal. That looks like a top contender.

From what I saw on my last quick trip just passing through, the pandemic really did a number on a ton of restaurants down there. Not sure if that was one of the casualties or not. We loved that place back in the day.

Because this would be a decent group to get a response from with all the Katrina refugees still hanging around

My parents dined there on their honeymoon in 1957. Took my wife there when we played in the Sugar Bowl. Glad to know it's still around. Great place.

Court of Two Sisters was terrible last time I went. Some of those places are relying on their name and location only.

Might have to try one of those. Just reminded me of this place...which was GREAT the last time I tried it, about a decade ago...although I was not sober.
