New place being opened by the Villa Montez Bros. Should be worth a try.

I agree. I'm looking forward to this one opening.

Hopefully it makes it longer than Docs Cafe or Steak and Shake

I feel like restaurants close here just as frequently as they open.

Docs and S&S shake were a weird deal for sure. They took forever to open and then closed up shop relatively quickly

Wow. I hadn't realized they'd closed. Doc's is not much of a surprise to me but Steak and Shake is.

Same here. I didn't know S&S was gone. The Icehouse next door is packed all the time.

wrong S&S. The Docs/S&S we are talking about are the ones on South Broadway.

Docs was stupid. Who puts a coffee shop on the wrong side of Broadway?

S&S was battling Andy's down there for the shake part, and it's kind of a gimmicky place anyway. It would have needed to be easy to get to from the theater, in a Wal Mart parking lot, or have a TON of extra traffic (maybe on an exit coming out of Cumberland) to have had a chance.

I hadn't even noticed they closed.

Not to pile on but also the Korean BBQ place is closed and the building appears to be for sale. Caton has a sign up at least. Looks like they stopped paying the yard guy too.

Not surprised. Horrible location and who the heck wants to go out to a restaurant to cook their own food.

Didn't it also change names about 3 times? I swear I saw different signs up on several different occasions. That place never had a chance.

On another note, Mooyah also closed. I actually liked that place. It was better than 5 Guys IMO. That shopping center is horrible though, although it doesn't seem to effect Jason's Deli.

Down goes another one... smashburger on broadway is closed now. It's been a brutal month for restaurants in Tyler.

I think 4 food places on broadway just in February closed.

I think both locations closed down. They shouldn't charge premium prices for a subpar burger.

It maybe the location because subway went out of business there too. Will be interesting to see the balance of fast food places with Tyler's population

Hopefully those closings will help more people go to Grub Burger...Aggie owned and great burgers.

I've been told juls is retooling their cafe side, as in ditching it. Have not confirmed with people that would know. Anyone here confirm or deny?

Damn I went to 3Z!

I think we are close to bursting the restaurant bubble in Tyler

Double Daves wasn't long ago. (Late last fall?)

It's been rough lately.

I only ever eat at the cafe side, so I hope that's not true. We love picking up coffee/shakes/breakfast on Saturday mornings.

So both Smashburgers closed....I misread that earlier and my assistant just told me the one on 110 was for rent.

Wasn't there a Subways in the same shopping center as the Smashburger on Broadway? It's apparently gone as well.
RockOn

Not sure. Remember Tcby and wing stop.

I'll throw out the Indian joint behind the Brookshires on Broadway.

I'll submit the NY Pizza place up by Bergfeld Park.
