Dammit. Got buried as the last post on the previous page...

I mean, what are the chances of a GM truck/suv being assigned a "GMT-####" license plate?!

That was probably a rhetorical question, but I needed to know the answer...

It looks like GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado sales combined are about 7.6% of total new autos sold in Texas. So, of the estimated 10,000 Texas plates that start with "GMT" at least 760 of them are likely to be on a Sierra or Silverado. Obviously, that number would be higher if you include all Yukon/Suburban/Escalade vehicles.

Further, I believe only vehicles classified as trucks get AAA#### plates, and cars get AA##### plates. Given that, the likelihood of a GMT#### plate on a GM truck or SUV is probably much higher.

I still don't know the answer, but chances are many people will encounter a GM truck or SUV with Texas GMT#### plates.

Nope. Cars get the AAA-#### plates, too.

And I have truck tags that are AA#######

And I kind of miss the old days where you could guess where a car was from by the plates. Up here, the plates all started with A. It was also kind of cool having a different plate color each year.

Focus RS, which of course has an ecoboost engine, with the license plate "RS TURBO". Seems strange to just restate what the car is on the license plate right next to the car badge.

Can post photo upon request! Too lazy to tinypic it.

I saw a Maserati with a plate that read "ONE 85". Took me a second to realize it was the owner's way to let everyone know that life's been good to him so far.

They need to make license plates at a few more correctional facilities.

This thread always amused me.

There is a black SUV (I think it's a Range Rover) in my 'hood in The Woodlands that has the tag "EBOLA".

One day I'm going to ask the driver to explain.
