I watched that. His biggest issue wouldn't be a problem in the U.S., according to what he says. The hump is an issue for right-hand drive, but not left-hand drive. And I doubt most European owners would be driving long enough to make it an issue.

My rough estimate is that over 150,000 miles, you'll spend about $5,000 more on gas for the GX than you would for the LC. And if gas spikes above 3.50 a gallon that would go up more.
I'm anxious to see the details on a hybrid GX. I've seen its likely coming with the 2025 model year.
Speculation is it will be the same system as the LC. And since the GX is a heavier vehicle, I assume it will get lower mpg than the LC, but hopefully not by much.

If anyone is unfamiliar with this guy, he has a popular family overlanding channel. Between their 5th gen 4runner and GX460 he's got over 100k miles of actual unpaved miles under his belt. A large chunk of those they've pulled some kind of adventure trailer.tk for tu juan said:

this is what we are waiting on. my wife wants a new gx, but I dont want to deal with premium. I already have to have it in my truck and it gets annoying in terms of seeing the price at the pump every week. I'd rather not have to deal with it for both our vehicles.chris1515 said:

The GX front end isn't to bad, but jebus, the new Lexus front end for some of their models is just awful. They really need to work on that!

Don't know...spending $70k+ on a vehicle is absurd to me...especially one I've never sat in, drove, or even seen in person. If it is a fully refundable deposit, I might put it down and then go look at other models as they show up.Choward4 said:

I'll take that POS off that guy's hands for tree fiddy.
My 4Runner hood does the same thing. Annoying yes. Symptom of inflation, EPA regs, and other outside factors requiring the thinnest sheet metal possible. Probably also yes.
Cool video about the new engine. Regarding the bearing failures, that's starting to sound like a failure I see in my job dealing with severe service industrial valves. We sell valves with 316SS base material of the internals and then a secondary coating like chrome carbide, nickel boron, or tungsten carbide to provide lubricity and prevent galling as the metal to metal parts open and close. Ive seen two or three failures of those coatings and the results inside the valve is ugly. I wonder if the coatings on the engine bearings are failing.

Do either the new landcruiser or gx 550 have more space in the front seat compartments than the previous model gx 460? I'm real annoyed driving or riding in my wife's gx 460mon longer drives.
