I didn't realize Chicago's time-qualifying standards were closely aligned with Boston. I think they used to be quite a bit slower.

Ugh Rejected. Now 0/19 in lottery draws for the World Majors. 0/4 Chicago, 0/4 Berlin, 0/3 London, 0/8 NYC.
Why do you want to run them? I ran Chicago last year and was largely underwhelmed by the big race experience.

Also rejected on Chicago lottery but it's okay. Will give St George a try in 2024 and see if I can bring my time down a couple of minutes for a time qualifier entry next year.

It's just a goal of mine to run the World Majors. I'll definitely just find a different race to run. I do like the novelty of traveling to run the big races. It's neat to see the entire world running community show up for them

Have they released the registration and odd numbers for Chicago? I thought it was like 60% chance to get in?

That's bc you have come over to the dark side of trail running.

I for one am glad it seems like more people are getting out and running. Support your local races though.

After almost 8 weeks of knee pain and mostly rest...I finally went to the orthopedic. And it looks like I've got a quad tendon injury. Everything else about the knee looks great. So I'm looking at 4-6 weeks of PT, a flimsy knee brace and some anti-inflammatory pills (and then another appointment).

So I'm resting and will follow Dr.'s orders......but going from being really physically active to doing nothing this time of the year is driving me a bit bonkers.

Anyone else have experience with this type of injury/issue? Did PT, a brace and pills help? Or is it just an insurance requirement/step?
Consistency: It's only a virtue if you're not a screw-up.

I was rejected three times by London this year.

General lottery
Rejected to run for the British Liber Trust
Rejected in the Abbott drawing for 3+ star finishers

My fantastic luck at the lotteries has officially ended.

What are your 4 running necessities?

I've settled on always wearing or carrying:

1. Wolaco half tights
2. Jaybird Vista ear buds
3. Garmin Fenix 7SS watch
4. Garmin HRM-Pro

My hat/shoes/shirts change situationally but the above items are always on a run with me.

Shoes
Shokz
Phone
Hat
Depending on air temp and distance handheld or vest with flasks.

I hate carrying stuff so unless I'm going over 10 or longer than 1.5 hrs I'm only going with my fenix 7x sapphire solar.

Trail running I'll bring Salomon vest for water.

Similar. Just my forerunner 945 and chest HRM. If I'm going 10+ I'll take my phone, still no headphones/don't listen to music, and carry water in some manner (handheld, belt, or vest).

I do wear a hat every run. I sweat a lot and find the bill of the hat redirects sweat out of my eyes better than a headband.

Every run includes Garmin watch (735xt) and either sunglasses or regular glasses to read said watch. Anything else depends on weather and type of run, e.g. no music for races and group runs.
I do like Feetures socks, that could be a third thing.

1) Forerunner - 235 to 245 to 265 over the years
2) Stryd
3) Polar H10 HRM
4) Bombas or Feetures socks

1. Garmin Epix gen 2 (just bought myself for my birthday)
2. Beats fit pro (tried Shokz for a month and absolutely hated them)
3. Ciele Hats
4. Compression underwear

I run in an area with a lot of traffic, so it renders them essentially useless during high traffic hours. Even during times without heavy traffic, I found myself constantly having to max out the volume to hear anything because even a strong breeze seemed to drown out the sound, which made it very uncomfortable due to the vibration of max volume. Needless to say the sound quality was abysmal.

The Beats fit pro on transparency mode seems to be a happy medium that maintains great sound quality while also allowing me to hear my surroundings.

Was really looking forward to seeing him race Kipchoge, the two GOATs on the same course. A great loss.
