That's why our two assistant coaches got into that fight on the sidelines. The D-ccord, Buddy Ryan, had been documented yelling at Kevin Gilbride, the O-Coord a couple of times during the season, chastising him for poor clock management. Unfortuantely, I cannot argue with one thing that Ryan said. Ryan was equally to blame in my opinion for running the prevent D for almost the entire 4th quarter, but we were throwing the ball up 32, and stopping the clock, not to mention turning it over on two interceptions and having Moon fumble one. Yikes, I was pretty young when that happened, but we were freaking 12-4, and threw down that choke job at the feet of the most notorious losers in playoffs history.

Sorry, but Jim Eddy was the D-Coord for that team. He got canned later and then they hired Buddy Ryan.

Ryan and Gilbride got into it on the sidelines during a Sunday Night ESPN game against the Jets, when Bucky actually got to see the field and went something like 3 for 4, 75 yards and a TD.

also, to mention I was referencing the fight as being ealrier in the year, not at the Bills game. but im saying the same problem he had managing a lead on offense led to the fight and the horrific meltdown.

The references to the Oilers on this thread are about the meltdown against the Bills.

You refer to a game that occurred the next season (or later).

I think you just FAILED at calling out someone for a FAIL.

I did fail utterly in my explanation. The Gilbride-Ryan fight was centered solely on Gilbride's inability to manage a lead on the offensive side of the ball. I was not talking about the actual game itself. I was very poorly attempting to explain my theory on why we went Chernobyl in the second half.

However, from the article I posted, "Gilbride, 42 years old, is a native of New Haven who is in his fifth season with Houston" so it's not possible that Gilbride was hired after the Bills debacle.
