Look at his division the last 10 years. Vandy, uk, a terrible tn, iffy sc and a sometimes great fl.

Hes at the flagship school in a state with a ton of talent and next door to Florida. He should be dominating frankly if he's truly top notch.

He has dominated all of those teams...

Better candidate than Smart, Shermlin, Strong, Fedora. Proven SEC winner. Has won conference in a conference worth winning.

In 11 years he has 5 SEC East division titles, 2 SEC Championships, 2 BCS bowl wins, and 6 Top-10 finishes. I'd say that's pretty good.

Yes hire Richt because we feel comfortable with mediocrity.

You have a different definition of mediocrity than I do.

Ok 25-25 is mediocrity, but so is 106-37?

Yeah winning multiple SEC titles and BCS bowls is not easy to do.

He would be far and away the best we could get.
jml2621

We could use that type of mediocrity

what is mediocre about 10 win seasons and conference championships, bring him to A&M and plug him into Texas recruiting and we will become a force to reckoned with. I have a feeling the talent pool of Texas will be enough to win a MNC or 2 or 3...

The point is that he's had 10 years to build a juggernaut while his division is crippled. He's a good coach. I don't think he's particularly special at this level.

Just did a quick rundown on Wikipedia, so it's entirely possible I miscalculated here but I'm counting 25-11 (0.694) against the SEC West during that time and 3 of them came last season.

I noticed many wins over top 10 teams during that time, even when billed as a dog (no pun intended). Sounds like a guy who gets his job done.

Seriously,See what coaches have to put up with!!We love the kids, love the game, but there is no pleasing the fans! It is the reason most coaches do not try to please the fans, because nothing you do is good enough.

Can we afford the $4M/yr that it's gonna take to get him? I think he's making $3.5M now...

OK 2 time SEC champ in 2002 and 2005.
TennAg

This time last year he was losing to UCF and scoring SIX points to drop to 6-7.
rw2003
10:54p, 12/5/11
This time this year he's 10-3 with losses only to top 10 teams.

so who do you want and how many wins are you realistically expecting in the next 10 yrs? Its people like you that make us laugh at you.

I seem to recall him kicking Sherman's arse just a couple of years ago...

And that is Richt in a nutshell. His teams are very unpredictable. Ga will look all world and unstoppable then have some totally WTF game that throws them off the high. If you've watched the sec weekly for years or have any Georgia friends, you'd know he's one of the most frustrating, self-sabotaging coaches around.

This just happened every week at A&M this year. Not sure what you're trying to suggest.

I would prefer a predictable 10 win average over a very predictable second half collapse.

I seriously don't know where people get this attitude from. Here we are a program that hasn't won anything worth mentioning in over a decade and coming off one of the most disappointing/embarrassing seasons and yet some feel like they can nit-pick a coaching candidate who has "only" won a 100+ games in the last ten years! Pathetic...

This nitpicking over Richt's record is asinine.

It is not worth getting hopes up for hiring a guy like Richt because Dollar Bill wont get past breakfast tomorrow with Charlie Strong (if it happens). I will go out on a limb and say we will have our guy by tomorrow evening.

I think he's a good coach, I repeat. However, he's not a "hire at all costs" candidate as this thread suggests.

Sweet, how many titles does he have there?

Richt is 60-28 in the SEC. He is 7-3 in bowl games. Texas A&M is 1-9 in our last 10 bowl games.

Break the bank...hire Richt!
