Wow. Some of you are delusional.

Richt = 2 SEC titles (5 West), 2 BCS bowl victories.

A&M history = 1 Big 12 title, 0 BCS bowl victories.

Do Saban or Miles have 106 wins in the last 10 years?

Our recent history is irrelevant. Relativity should have no place in evaluating a coach if you're looking for and willing to hire the best.

The most important factors are charisma, leadership, talent eval (asst. coach and player), trajectory and drive. A simple history of wins and losses is actually a pretty terrible indicator of hiring the next great coach, as strange as it seems.

Why is anyone responding to TennAgs trolling? Richt is better than any coach a&m has has in the last 30 years

Some people will complain about anything. They say things like this:

quote:
Yes hire Richt because we feel comfortable with mediocrity.

Who do those of you that are saying this think we can or should get? Geez.

I'm not saying he's not a "good" coach. He's a .750 type coach with every conceivable built in advantage. The best coaches in this age of 12 game schedules(an additional easy win) are usually around .800.

And again, who we've had in the past is irrelevant, we are unbound from that history at the moment.

There is no other candidate that comes close to Richt's credentials that is available for hire.

We won one B12 title in the 10+ years we were in that conference.

Richt was won 2 SEC titles in 11 years. The premiere freakin' football league in the whole country. He's played in a total of 3. He's won BCS games.

This guy is so much more than mediocre it's laughable.

Do you really think that if you look ahead 10 years in the future with Richt, Sumlin, Fedora, Smart, or Strong as the Head Coach that any of those guys would have a better record in the SEC than Richt?

Definitely a solid coach and I am all for it. But I too don't think he is a "hire at all cost" coach. Some of you seem to have him up there with the Les Miles, Urban Meyers, Nick Sabans, etc. But then again we won't be able to get him without the "hire at all cost" attitude and he would require a long term contract to come here.

He was on the hot seat last year and lost to Boise State in Georgia this year.

Again, I am for him but I am leery of a long term contract for a guy like him who doesn't have any ties to Texas.

I'll take an average of 10 or 9 win seasons and the promise of going further every year

"He's georgias rc."

Then hire him immediately. We didn't know what we had with RC. I'd love to win as much as we did in the 90s.
