The Eagle & KBTX are reporting that our athletic department has laid off a dozen people or so.

Any news about who was let go?

From an Eagle article:
Justin Moore
Chris Park
Tyler Pigg
Matt Watson

A couple good Ags and long time athletics department personnel.

Wow. Those are all a surprise.

Matt Watson has been there like 27 years.

Was Matt Watson the shoe guy who always posted the alt unis when Sumlin/JFF were here?

Gotta make room for Easterby
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

Any time there is a change in management...hang on.
I saw this many times in my career.
The new boss has to show he/she is doing something even if it makes no sense which is usually the case.

Bjork was going to do the same...he had called out savings had to be found in staff reductions, higher ticket prices and higher concession prices to help offset the buyout.

Justin Moore is a bit of surprise, but guess didn't fit in Trev's vision (or whatever). He had left before (think to Hstn) and the dept took many attempts to get him back as he was once considered top notch and an up and comer (guess he may have tried for AD role).

No. we are paying for having a national championship and leading us to the best outcome since 1939 in 2020 to work here.

Two members of athletic training staff also let go plus equipment… some
Individuals who made less than 100K. This has everything to do with JF buyout.

Yeah. Tough to see him go. He was their spiritual leader. Summy brought him over.

Yup. Matt and I were student managers way back when. He's an all-around good person and I believe he will bounce back.

Hope some land on their feet but they've been at a place where they were paid well and only focused on one thing - unless they land at another sec or P5 can some of them function or are attractive to others where you have to work for less but have more duties?

You know some of those laid off hated the Jimbo contracts from the beginning. This must have felt like a slow motion train wreck to them.

Meanwhile Bjork gets hired away. Just have to lol at the world sometimes.

For sure. Most of those guys are well respected and will land on their feet. They didn't do anything wrong except stay long enough that they were making too much money relative to their title.

Justin Moore may be the AD here one day. But he's got to go away and get it done somewhere else first.

****'em, they created this mess. I'll watch'em from my living room where I cause pause the game, drinks are cheap and I don't have to fight the crowds and the heat.

App State was my last game at Kyle, after 20 years of being a season ticket holder.

Fool me once shame on you, fool have eleven hundred times....shame on me.

What is wrong with some of you? Almost none of these folks have had anything to do with the failures on the field., but "f em all"? Sad, bitter people.

Was there actually a $4.1 million buyout to hire Albert?

Plus his contract, which I'm sure has no buyout penalties, as A&M seems to listen to the BOR - very successful people who seem to make idiotic decisions in this area...

I doubt any of these folks made any of the big decisions that frustrate you and many of the rest of us.

This is probably to balance the employee load. Under Bjerk the top may have gotten too heavy so the new AD had to get rid of some unneeded positions. The easiest way to save $$$$ is to cut wages.

Not to diss on these individuals, but some of those titles seem pretty cushy with duties that could be combined in other positions, which i guess is what they are doing. But I admit knowing little about managing something like Aggie football.
