You are obviously entering your new position at a very difficult time in our nation's history, especially in view of the recent report on the war. Therefore, as you go forward please know that you have my(and many others')prayers on your behalf. May God's blessings be with you and your family.

Dr. Gates, if you can do for our country what you have done for Texas A&M, then the world will be a better place because of your decision to leave College Station. We hate to see you go, but we all know it is for the best. Texas A&M has always given its best for America, and this time is no different.

I know Texags gets crazy and crude many many many times, but it also sets the tone for many Aggie fans, students, boosters etc. I think it says alot about Dr. Gates' leadership that he would reference this sight and to put weight to the discussions he saw here. Many people of his stature would consider it beneath them and completely miss out on the point of view of some die-hard supporters. Dr. Gates will now always be part of the Aggie family and only his physical location and duties are changing. Nevertheless, he will be missed.

I'm amazed! It has been a great experience and we are all better off for having you here.

You are an Ag, which is a permanent promotion. There is no salary for the position, but the rewards are life-long. There is, however, no vacation, and you will be busy at Thanksgiving and the day after every year. Nobody here is letting you out of your adoption of us.
