Motte comes in and blows his first save of the year last night versus the Cubs. Feels like April 2011 all over again.

Back to back blown saves in the 9th for the Cards.

This after the ump blew a call at home to give the Cubs their first run. Unbelievable how he missed that call at home.

Cards/Cubs in a "slight" rain delay in the rubber game of the three game series; game due to be played after delay.

Lynn the first 4 game winner.

It's going to be interesting what Mike Matheny does when Chris Carpenter comes back. Lynn, Westbrook, Lohse & Garcia have all looked superb. Wainwright's last start was really good. Who gets thrown to the bullpen/dealt? I this Westbrook's trade value has gone up.

Yeah it's a great problem to have. Lynn looked good in the bullpen last season as well.

And I love, love, love Matheny's approach so far.

And blah, they showed a replay of the call at home in game 2 last night and it pissed me off all over again. The ump was literally 3 feet from the plate and somehow missed the fact that DeJesus entirely missed home plate even though the ball beat him there.

Then the 2nd base ump blew a call in the 10th on an attempted steal but that was much closer, and I'm sure it was hard to see that Greene had the base blocked with his foot.

Oh and that was the runner that eventually scored the winning run.

Whatever, I'm sure we'll get at least one this season thanks to blind umpires.

Cardinals owned Gallardo today.

I think he is now 1-9 versus the Cards.

Carpenter had a nice bases loaded shot off of the cf wall.

Since 1918, only four Cardinals pitchers have opened the year with a four-start streak of at least five innings and no more than one earned run. Dizzy Dean did it in 1937. Mort Cooper did in 1943. Lohse and Lynn both have done so this month.

Ah, Mort Cooper and his bro Walker and them guys.

The big stick gave us that win! Salas looked like booboo.

Ugly game. The Pirates defense gave it away but the bombs were nice.

Wainwright looked pretty sharp even though he gave up 4 runs. That curve ball is coming back into form.

Such hostility; you would think the Rangers lost another World Series.

Rocked Burnett today, getting some revenge from last time by giving him the most earned runs per 3 innings in modern mlb history.

4 runs in the 1st 6 pitches.

Beltran 2 3 run bombs and 7 rbi.

The Cardinals have won every series except for one, and in that one the bullpen blew 2 9th inning saves.

Lance Lynn goes to 5-0. Looked amazing again.

The irrepressible Jon Jay, one of the most underrated center fielders in baseball, is batting .429 and slugging .556. Jay must be the ballplayer that Tony Rasmus always wanted.

It gets lost due to Hamilton's 4 HR night, but Beltran powers the Cards again with 2 jacks including a Grand Slam.

And the first shot was crazy deep. I love the way this offense jumps on teams early.

And our starting pitching has been lights out. Just an amazing start to the year.

I'm interested to see how Victor Marte turns out. Watching him in person recently, he's quite impressive.

Allen Craig is a monster by the way. He takes the most impressive BP on that team.

Craig/Jay/Freese really make this team tick. Cheap, young and very good.

I hope they can keep healthy and keep raking the entire year. It's a long season.

3 hours till Wainwrights first pitch and the Busch scene is jumping...what a baseball town. No Cards fan, but really appreciate the atmosphere.
