Pulled out an old timer to try to help the rarity score and it cost me. Note to self: Don't get cute!
It is the old timers that save my butt half the time.

Me too, but this one wasn't a 70's-80's old timer but a WW2 old timer!

What's the consensus on using Baseball Reference? That's cheating, right?

Using anything other than your memory is "cheating"

The only time I use baseball reference is if there are two players with the same name on the drop-down list and I want to make sure I get the right one. I check the years and match them up for my selection. Has only happened once or twice so far.

Yea there are two Chris Young's with nearly identical playing years. Luckily, I knew which one I wanted from the years, but I don't know how most people would know without using baseball reference…which I think is ok when looking at players with the same name.

Today's was easier than recent ones - no need for fringe names.

Immaculate Grid 98 9/9:

Schwarber, Lofton, Maddux
Ortiz, E. Rosario, J. Santana
P. Martinez, Sabathia, Clemens

7/9 - thought Jack Morris won a Cy Young with Minnesota.

Did get to choose my high school buddy for Twins/Boston who had a rarity score of .02%!

Today was tough for me. Spent all day thinking about it (which may be against the "rules") to only get 7/9
Schwarber, X, Arrieta
Ortiz, Colon, X
Clemens, Sabbathia, Verlander

I'm legitimately shocked John Rocker never made an AS game. What I get for being cute.

Did land a certain head FB coach at Colorado on one of these
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

Cliff Pennington, x, Mike Trout
Frank Robinson, x, Jim Palmer
Ken Griffey, Jake Odorizzi, Hank Aaron

Three very lucky stabs in the dark gave me a solid grid. They're doing two games today (Woo-Hoo! Double Header!) so maybe I'll do better with that one.

8/9 - I feel like you can afford to get a little cute with the AS columns

Cliff Pennington, Scott Kazmir, Nolan Ryan (2%)
Frank Robinson, Edwin Jackson, Brooks Robinson (3%)
X, Fred McGriff, Warren Spahn (0.4%)

My Braves AS selection wasn't hard to come up with, but was surprisingly low percentage wise.

Only 6/9 on the 2nd round today but I like the Baseball Reference addition, specifically the ability to see all "possible answers" after you complete the game.

Grid 100 Immaculate! Rarity 56 By far the easiest one for me to date. I thought of several options for each square.

Jim Wynn, Darryl Strawberry, Steve Garvey
Marwin Gonzalez, David Cone, Joe DiMaggio
Curt Schilling, Lenny Dykstra, Richie Ashburn

Immaculate Grid 100 7/9:

Thanks to infamous reliever trade for the easy Dodgers/Astros player
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

I like trying to go very rare with Astro picks
And how did Mike Schmidt never have 200 hits?
7/9 337
Don Sutton 2%/ Piazza 21%/ x
Bob Watson .6%/x/Jeter 61%
Roy O 23%/Dykstra 10%/Pete Rose 13%

I guessed Freddie Freeman as the 200 hit Dodger. Looked it up afterward and he finished with 199 last year. Pain!

My first immaculate 9/9. Rarity 164. Growing up an Astros fan in the 80s and 90s really helped out a lot.
