Planning a 5 night trip to Belize for three couples in late May. Thinking about renting a house/condo in/near San Pedro. None of us have been to Belize before. Any recommendations for what area of town to rent house? How do you get around while there, golf cart rental? Have heard you can hire chef to cook meals at house, anyone done that before? Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

We've got a group of 10 going late May, as well. We always stay at Belizean Shores resort , bout 3 miles north of town. Haven't tried a house or a chef. Yeah, golf cart is recommended for getting around. We like Caroline's for food and Pina coladas. Rum Dogs is a cool place over the water near the truck stop. Sailing/snorkeling with El Gato tours

somewhere south good spot for food, some drinks. secret beach worth it for a day trip.

We have been several times and stayed both north and south of town. We prefer north of town as there is a little more to do in the way of bars and restaurants in close proximity. In March we stayed at Sunset caribe and enjoyed it. Definitely get a golf cart as most of the fun is getting out and about.
