Has anyone been to mainland China and had a VPN that works consistently? I'll be in Honk Kong also but most VPN's should work there I think.

ChinaLife on Reddit has a running thread on working VPN's for Mainland China. I'd check there for up to date info as it's my understanding that different VPN's there are randomly blocked.

I have, and any attempt to access the internet outside of the firewall set up there is futile.

Update. The only reliable VPN in mainland China was LetsVPN. All other popular brands didn't work and I was a paid subscriber to all of them. The firewall is very powerful over there.
