Guy at work have me a brand new electric smoker. I'm a big cook, but had never has a smoker.

Did a rack of baby back and spare ribs. Dry rubbed with salt, pepper, cumin, cayenne, chili powder, garlic powder, and brown sugar.

5.5 hours at 210. Basted with homemade BBQ sauce for the last 30 min. Excellent results.

I spent the afternoon is San Francisco and started with a Maple Glazed Bacon Apple donut at Dynamo Donuts in the mission.

Just down the road was a single origin chocolate shop where I tried chocolate and brownies from specific regions of different countries.

After some tourist time with my son, we ate at Tony's pizza in North Beach, one of my favorite spots in the city.

Dynamo and Tony's are both awesome. Envious.

My 5 year old wasn't a fan of Dynamo. He ate his strawberry filled donut (actual strawberries, not jelly...and it still had a hole) but he said he likes Texas donuts better (Shipleys). I laughed. I thought it was awesome.

I forgot to mention that the name of the chocolate place was Dandelion Chocolates. We went back again today to get more brownies before we hopped on our flight home. Delicious!!!

This was one of the best bites of food I've ever eaten. From the Trio menu (precursor to Alinea) at Next in Chicago, the black truffle explosion ravioli:

I've been lazy in the kitchen lately so I flew the family out to Napa to dine at Ad Hoc for Thanksgiving lunch. Here was the menu:

SOUP:Cauliflower

ENTREE:

Whole Diestel Turkey
Bacon Leek Stuffing
Cranberry Relish
Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Glazed Cippolini Onions
Brussels Sprouts
Mashed Potatoes
Turkey Giblet Gravy
Buttermilk Drop Biscuits

Desserts were 3 pies: Apple, pecan, and pumpkin...all from Bouchon Bakery. They were absolutely delicious. Here was the turkey plate (we also had the supplement of bone-in ribeye):

DRE - what kind of smoker did you get?

Last weekend it was back to Napa. We were really busy and had friends with us most of the time so I wasn't able to get many pics but I can assure you, the meals were incredible.

Buratta salad at Bouchon

Black truffle risotto (also had tastes off my wife's black truffle gnocchi and black truffle pasta on this trip)

Croque Madame at Bouchon

Valentine's Day chocolate cake from Bouchon Bakery

Black truffle burger from the Thomas in Napa

No pics of steak frites from a different meal at Bouchon or the cassoulet from Bistro Jeanty. nor were there pics from a baller ass meal at Redd with about one of everything on the menu brought to the table and some things the chef cooked up for my buddy's 40th. The only pic I got was my beer. the '96 Salon champagne before that was the best I've ever had...period. The Maybach cab we tasted was phenomenal too. We also ate at Tonys pizza in SF (see previous pics on this thread) as well as a cool restaurant called Sons and Daughters in Union Square. It was a 7-8 course tasting menu that was really, really good. The best part about it was that another buddy who I've known for 39.5 years (I'm 39.5 years old so I'd say I've known him my whole life) happened to be out there too and joined us for dinner. Life is good.

Oh, we also did the tour at Dandelion Chocolate in the Mission area of SF.

Nice, Bonfire. I attempted my own Napoletana pizzas on the Blackstone oven last Sunday and while good, it wasnt quite worthy of posting on this thread.

After hitting refresh all day for Alinea seats, I was saddened to learn there will be no food porn pics from me on July 4th weekend, as Alinea will be closed the night we could dine there. I'll try to find something else...
