This thread has been slacking...I'll try to revive it.

From the best brunch I've ever had...Vice Versa NYC (2 dishes shared with my wife).

Casonceli (ravioli with chopped veal, pork, raisin, amaretti and topped with butter/sage sauce and pancetta)...so good! We had actually been to the chef's hometown in Italy, which few Americans go to, so he talked to us for a while and offered to send some to us!

And then eggs and white truffles for only $20! The chef really liked us!

One of my favorites: the Pantera burger at Kuma's in Chicago. Cheeseburger topped with roasted poblano, bacon, tortilla chips and ranchero sauce.

Au Cheval cheeseburger with bacon and egg:

Funny story here (IMO). We were in France and spent all day at the Louvre without breakfast or lunch. We were ravenous when we spotted the "Hanburger y Chavel" special at a street cafe. Having avoided burgers and the like for over a week, and starving, a burger sounded like exactly what we wanted.

We sat down, ordered, and as we waited on our food to come out, the wife decided to look up what kind of "cheese" chavel is.

Oops...

Edit: forgot that the word filter censors that syllable.

Yep that's it. I was so hungry I ate it anyway, or at least enough to curb my appetite.

I never realized they made horse cheese! I learned something new today. Doubt I'd order it intentionally, though. Interestingly, "Au cheval" means "by horse" but the French also use the word to mean "egg on top."

I took that to mean it was horse meat.

Got some Prime Ribeye Cap at Costco this weekend and decided to sous vide it and finish on the grill. 129F for a couple hours and then got my grill as hot as it would go and let go about two minutes total each side.

A brisket that I'm particularly proud of that I did back in January. Easily the best one I've done in awhile. Had a great smoke ring on it.

Brunch at Ad Hoc in Yountville yesterday.

When we sat down I was pretty disappointed they weren't serving their famous fried chicken but when the food got to the table I was apologetic that I doubted them. This was easily one of the best brunches I've ever had.

Merguez Sausage Hash

Brioche French Toast

Scrambled eggs with white truffles

Australian black winter truffles on pasta at Skogen in Custer, SD. I've never had the Australian truffles and I was impressed. And Skogan is a gem in an area that doesn't have a lot of upscale choices. Check them out if you are in the Black Hills.
