I got this from "The Cocktail Codex" an almost too smooth and balanced twist on a Martini:

Poet's Dream
2oz. Beefeater Gin
3/4oz. Dolin Dry Vermouth
1/4oz. Benedictine
2 Dashes Orange Bitters
Lemon Twist

Stir all the ingredients over ice, then strain into a chilled Nick & Nora or Martini glass. Express the lemon twist over the drink, then set it on the edge of glass.

Hayes Carll and Ray Wylie Hubbard fans can double it add some Mescaline and call it "A Drunken Poet's Dream"

Bartended for a friend's Army promotion celebration last night. This is what I came up with for the menu. The most popular were the margaritas and the bourbon sour. A got a lot of compliments on the Mean Army Green (Avocolada) though.

The original recipe was this:

https://teremana.com/blogs/recipes/avo-colada

I modified it though and replaced the coconut yogurt with Cream of Coconut (Coco Lopez, etc.). I use about .75oz Cream of Coconut...honestly I usually don't measure it and just squirt it into the drink for a couple seconds! You can still use a bit of agave if you want extra sweetness but the Coco Lopez has plenty of sugar in it already! For the ones I made this week I used the pineapple syrup instead to give it a little pineapple kick. I shake it hard and double strain it to remove any avocado chunks. You could probably blend the liquid ingredients before adding to the shaker with ice...I plan to try that so I don't waste as much avocado that has to otherwise be thrown out after straining.

This is about the farthest thing from an Irish-themed cocktail, but I made a Spicy Dead Lady this evening.

Equal parts mezcal, Aperol, falernum, and lime juice. Put it all in a shaker, add ice and a *thin* slice of habanero and shake. Double strain it into a coupe glass and garnish with a lime wheel.

Upon further review, the green of the lime makes it Irish.

I've been on Nyquil, hot buttered rums, and the occasional Penicillin the past week trying to get over a bad cold.

I ordered the Shaker & Spoon "The Better With Bitters Experience" off of Kickstarter.

This is the "Ash & Elm" which was an add on to the package above. This box came with everything needed to make 4 cocktails minus the alcohol.

I bought a new bottle of Laphroaig 10yr yesterday, so had some more Penicillin last night. Didn't have any ginger (or even Domaine de Canton) on hand, but a spicy honey syrup worked just fine.

Blessed to be on the Coast tonight, thus whipped up some Margs.

2 oz blanco
1 oz lime
1 oz Cointreau
1/4 agave syrup

I've always made margs this way. Should I try a different spec tonight?

I would substitute reposado, but I like my margs mellow.

I too like it with 1.5 oz of lime juice, skip the Cointreau and use 2 oz of Ancho Reyes (green).

I will have to try this. I do like to split the tequila to 1oz and 1oz of Ancho Reyes, but have never used the green, only red

I like this recipe. It also removes the Cointreau.

https://www.liquor.com/recipes/tommys-margarita/

2 ounces blanco tequila
1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
1/2 ounce agave nectar
Garnish: salt rim
