Someone at ESPN had to type that byline.
They either follow college baseball and would know arkansas is no longer #1 and also knew USC is #20 OR they had to look it up.
Then someone (a producer) has to approve the byline and send it to a programmer.
Programmers are not required to follow the sport, but they are also the same group that makes the graphics on the screen. Like the "2" next to Arkansas on the overlay.
Not to mention there was another person who cut the clip with the correct rankings displayed.
So either there are a) multiple layers of incompetence, or b) bias against us, c) hyping Arkansas for eyeballs/clicks (which again is a bias against us.)

Or one person (a chyron/graphics operator) made an innocent mistake that almost no one cares about.

You forgot d) they just don't care as much as you do
I'm 99% sure an AI has been typing up those bylines for ESPN for a year or two now. At least for everything outside of NFL, CFB and NBA they really DGAS
This is just you looking for something to be upset about. We've gotten a ton of respect nationally. My dad and I were watching the UK-UT and then Arky-SC games last night and we both commented on how every broadcast is finding a way to mention us after last weekend.

Only 1 ranking matters. The one after the final out in Omaha.
Until then just stay in the top 8 and everything will be just fine

Sometimes, our fanbase... just... *sigh*...
How often is one of our teams #1 in the country and playing lights out? Just enjoy the ride while it lasts. We can get back to complaining soon enough. Football season is right around the corner.

I wish people would quit worrying about in-season rankings that have no bearing on anything.
