Reminds me of an awesome example of questionable judgement by our athletic dept. During the football season later that year the baseball team was honored for holding the no. 1 ranking for 11 weeks. The ceremony was held before the kickoff of the LSU game at Kyle. You can imagine how much fun the visiting crowd had with that. Fortunately, Larry Horton shut them up a few minutes later.

Cool! Should have been the Arky series. The 89 Ags won 2 of 3 , but lost the marathon opener that lasted until about 1:30 a.m.. 16 innings if I remember correctly.

That was a really fun season. Minus the end. It would be great to have DD Grubbs, who was so entertaining as PA announcer/ sound effects/ DJ; and George, the grad student who advanced the smart-alecky, running commentary that morphed into the fan participation we see and hear today.
