Texas A&M 58, SMU 6: Defense in review

By Billy Liucci
September 23, 2014

Let's get the disclaimer out of the way: the SMU offense might be the worst in college football. But the Aggies still didn’t allow a touchdown and led 31-0 before the Mustangs got on the scoreboard, so statistics aside, it was a strong day for the defense.

• SMU didn’t record a first down on its first five possessions, until about midway through the second quarter. The Mustangs managed just 63 yards on 34 first-half snaps and had eight drives totaling four plays or less.
